Some Squarespace 5 sites experience issues with the CAPTCHA forms on their blogs. Visitors see a notification like this:

In order to control spam, please type the characters you see in the box below, then click 'Confirm Post' to continue with this post.

An internal error occurred: 524E5E95E7A3A.A8CA0C3.6D069BEE

The character field also doesn’t appear.

Our engineers are working to pinpoint the issue, but until we find a solution, one option is to disable your blog's CAPTCHA.

To do this:

  1. Go to your Journal page and enter Structure mode.
  2. Click Configure This Page.
  3. In the configuration window, uncheck Enable CAPTCHA.

For detailed steps, visit Enabling and disabling CAPTCHA.

Disabling CAPTCHA increases the chances that your blog will receive spam comments. You can remove them with the Manage Comments area in your Website Management bar.

To receive notification when this issue is resolved, open a ticket and ask to be added to the email follow-up list.

Note: Squarespace 5 is our legacy platform from 2012. Although we still support Squarespace 5, fixing bugs or issues is a lower priority for us while we focus on our current platform, Squarespace 7. Squarespace 7 has an improved blogging experience. Learn if moving to Squarespace 7 is right for you.
