There are two ways to create an organized list of links to your Squarespace 5 site's blog posts:
- Journal Index page or widget - Curate a list of your most recent blog posts, organized by date, title, tag, or category. You can add this as a page or in sidebar.
- Journal Summary widget - Display recent blog posts with teaser text in a sidebar.

Before you begin
- Before creating a list, set up a blog and add at least one blog post.
- Each list connects to one blog. if you have multiple blogs on your site, you can create multiple Journal Indexes or Journal Summaries.
Add a Journal Index page or widget
You can add a Journal Index module as a page on your site or a widget in your sidebar.
For either the page or the widget, follow these steps:
Step 1 - Add the Index page or widget
In Structure Mode, add a page or widget to your site, and choose Journal Index. Then click Select & Configure.
Step 2 - Configure the Index
In the configuration window, add a title, then choose your configuration options:
- Target Journal - Choose which Blog Page to connect to.
- Archive options - Choose the filters for your list or lists.
- Sort Individual Archive Alphabetically - Choose whether the list sorts alphabetically or chronologically.
- Entry Limit - Set the maximum number of posts that display in the list.
Next, click Create Page or Create Widget. Hover over the page navigation link or widget and click Enable to make it live.
Tip: The Journal Index page creates headers for each list. The sidebar widget doesn't create headers.
Add a Journal Summary widget
To add a Journal Summary module as a widget in your sidebar:
Step 1 - Add the Summary widget
In Structure Mode, add a widget to your site, and choose Journal Summary. Then click Select & Configure.
Step 2 - Configure the Summary
In the configuration window, add a title, then choose your configuration options:
- Target Journal - Choose which Blog Page to connect to.
- Display Style - Choose whether to show full text teaser, or an icon and subtitle
- Date Format - Choose the date format display
- Entry Count - Set the number of posts that display in the list.
- Highlight Count - If you're showing teaser text, choose how many of the entries in the list display the text. The others will just display the blog post title.
- Word Trim - If you're showing teaser text, choose the maximum length of the teaser text.
Next, click Create Widget. Hover over the widget and click Enable to make it live.

- Summary Blocks - Present your blog posts in magazine-style layouts, such as a grid, carousel, or mosaic.
- Archive Block - Create organized lists of links to blog posts. You can filter them by tags, categories, author, and date.
