Using Pinterest with Squarespace 5

Pinterest is a social network where users create image boards that display content from across the internet. To encourage visitors to share your products and images with their followers, you can use custom code to connect Pinterest with your Squarespace 5 site.

Note: Adding code to your site is an advanced modification that falls outside of the scope of Squarespace support.

Add a Save button to blog posts

To help visitors share your content on Pinterest, add a Save button to all your blog posts.

  1. Log into your site and go to your Blog Page.
  2. Enter Structure mode and click Configure This Page.
  3. Scroll down to Post Display Configuration.
  4. Drag one of the HTML Snippet elements up out of the Unused Post Elements area.
  5. Double-click the HTML Snippet and paste the code below in the field.
  6. Click Save Page Configuration.
<a data-pin-do="buttonBookmark" href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/create/button/"></a>
<script async defer src="//assets.pinterest.com/js/pinit.js"></script>
Note: This is code from Pinterest, and it may change. If you're having issues with Save buttons, the code could be out of date. Visit the Save Button tab of the Pinterest Developers Widget builder to view their latest code.

Add a Follow button to a page or post

To connect visitors to your Pinterest boards, add a Follow button to your pages and posts:

  1. Add a code snippet.
  2. Paste in the code below.
  3. Replace NAME with your Pinterest handle.
<a data-pin-do="buttonFollow" href="https://www.pinterest.com/NAME">Pinterest</a>
<script async defer src="//assets.pinterest.com/js/pinit.js"></script>
Tip: If you edit the code snippet and the button displays as text rather than a button image, delete the code snippet and replace it with a new one.
Note: This is code from Pinterest, and it may change. If you're having issues with the Follow button, the code could be out of date. Visit the Follow tab of the Pinterest Developers Widget builder to view their latest code.

Add a Follow button to the sidebar

To add a Follow button to your sidebar, add a Text/HTML widget and create the button with custom code.

Note: The Social Links widget doesn't have a built-in integration for Pinterest.
